This is what they look like as standard, apart from the fuel bladder. I don't like chrome that much and I want to give it a much more utilitarian and minimalistic look. I mainly do long distance riding (as nothing is close to me) though, so I have to keep it comfortable and protected. Lets see how this photo thing works.

I started off by removing lots of chrome, tackling the rest with a scotchbrite pad and wrapping the exhaust.

I then realized, on a long trip with luggage on the pillion seat, that a rider backrest is all but essential for comfort if you want to do distance in the cruiser position (vagina in the wind). I built the backrest, mounted it through the seat and had a pad made and covered by the same guys, Pieter vd Merwe at Leathertek. Big recommendation for them by the way! I had the backrest ceramic coated as well.

This is what it looks like now. The headers are still a bit hot at traffic lights, I will either wrap them again (probably the titanium wrap) or make little shields as my metal shaping skills progress. I also made a screen from polycarbonate which I still need to test properly and then polish if I am happy. The touring screen from Triumph is way too big for my liking but the little sportster screen just doesn't cut it above 150.

I bought the Rocket for that engine but it does have other benefits! Please note, one of them is the wife. Future plans include a tail tidy, don't like the indicators or the 'heavy' looking plate hanger. Maybe sinking the number plate into the mudguard? Front indicators will have to change then as well. The wooden mudguards on that BM posted elsewhere is really tickling me as well. Maybe a wooden dash? I'm not a fan of the original chrome 'bullets'. Another little project will be a roll-type bag that fits on the carrier in the same leather. Suggestions very welcome.

With regards to the ladies, I prefer not to 'speak out and remove all doubt'. The exhaust is an oval stainless car silencer bought on dimensions so it would fit in the space. I fabricated the brackets and welded the bent pipes to it.
